Fry announced the news via Twitter and attached a picture of the couple signing the marriage register. "Gosh. @ElliottGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing," Fry wrote.

Many amongst Fry's 8.4 million followers and the couple's celebrity friends offered their congratulations on Twitter. "Bloody hell it's happened! @ElliottGSpencer has made an honest man of m'col. Love and happiness to all!!" Hugh Laurie, Fry's former comedy partner and close friend, tweeted. Fry's The Hobbit co-star Ryan Gage and actor and writer Mark Gatiss also offered their congratulations.
The 57-year-old actor and comedian only announced the news of his engagement to 27-year-old Spencer 11 days ago, on 6th January. The couple applied to marry at a Norfolk registry office and had a year to tie to knot but it apparently they didn't want to waste any time! Fry also used Twitter to announce the news of his engagement and wrote how he was "very, very happy".
Congratulations to Fry and Spencer on the announcement of their marriage!
