Steve Harvey Teased By Miss Colombia About Miss Universe Mistake

Steve Harvey

During a special edition of his talk show, the embattled Steve Harvey came face to face with the two models at the centre of his horrendous Miss Universe gaffe, in which he mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the winner of the pageant instead of Miss Philippines.

In December last year, 58 year old presenter and comedian Harvey made headlines with a rather ridiculous blunder in which he revealed Ariadna Gutierrez (Miss Colombia) as the victor of Miss Universe. Except she wasn’t, and the crown actually went to Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, a.k.a. Miss Philippines.

In the second of two special episodes of ‘The Steve Harvey Show’ entitled ‘Miss Universe: The Truth’, airing on Tuesday (January 19th), Harvey sat down with both Gutierrez and Wurtzbach to clear the air about the mistake and try to explain why it happened.

People's Choice Awards Steve Harvey Jane Lynch

That awkward moment where you're Steve Harvey and you think everyone's over the Miss Universe fiasco, but then the People's Choice Awards do this. Someone call the burn unit! Yep, this award show has decided to recreate 2015's most awkward moment on TV with a short skit.

Jane LynchJane Lynch mocks Steve Harvey

Host Jane Lynch very convincingly told the audience that this year would feature a whole new award. 'We're trying something new this year', she said. 'This year's People's Choice Awards has picked one entertainer who, for whatever reason, has never won a People's Choice Award before but who we believe is deserving of one.'

Forget Miss Universe, What About These Equally Awkward Fiascos?

Steve Harvey

Ok, now is really the time to stop giving Steve Harvey so much grief about the Miss Universe 2015 gaffe. Sure, he announced the wrong winner and left a poor Miss Colombia crownless and a little humiliated but we all make mistakes. In fact, Harvey is not the only presenter to have messed up results in a reality show.

Steve HarveySteve Harvey is not the only one who's made mistakes

Let us not forget that just over a month ago Olly Murs received backlash after announcing the wrong result on 'The X Factor'. Well, technically it was the correct result, but he prematurely announced that Monica Michael was going home after miscounting the judge's votes. Oops! At least Caroline Flack was there to correct things.

Miss Universe Host Mistakenly Crowns Wrong Winner

Donald Trump Steve Harvey

The final moments of Sunday evening’s Miss Universe pageant will probably go down as some of the most awkward in television history, thanks to an embarrassing mix up by host Steve Harvey. During the live broadcast Harvey incorrectly announced that Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez had won the crown and even allowed her to begin celebrating, before correcting his mistake.

As Gutiérrez began celebrating with the crown on her head, Harvey was forced to come back on stage and announce that Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo, who had earlier been named the runner-up, was the actual winner. The crown was then removed from Gutierrez and placed on Alonzo’s head.

Cedric The Entertainer Replaces Meredith Vieira On ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’

Cedric The Entertainer Meredith Vieira Steve Harvey

Cedric The Entertainer is the new host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and will replace Meredith Vieira in the fall. Cedric, who also stars in TV Land sitcom ‘The Soul Man’ was part of the famous Kings Of Comedy tour with Steve Harvey, D.L Hughley and the late Bernie Mac.

“I’m truly looking forward to hosting ‘Millionaire,’ ” Cedric said in a statement. “The show is a modern-day game show giant, and the team at Disney-ABC has been great at putting the right elements together over 11 seasons. I’m excited to entertain all those who watch and play as season 12 launches … It’s going to be a good time every day!” The show, which began in 1999 with original host Regis Philbin, now airs at 10am weekdays on the WFTV-Channel 9. Viera has hosted the syndicated version fo the show since its debut in 2002, winning two Daytime Emmys for her hosting.

Hiring Cedric The Entertainer appears to be the show’s way of clawing back viewers, after losing some 10% from last year. It now pulls in around 3.2 million, less than half the audience of the rebounding Family Feud, hosted by Cedric’s old pal Steve Harvey. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! Draw 11 million and 9.6 million respectively, though still take up early-evening slots.

Steve Harvey Breakdown, Heart-warming Scenes As Presenter Is Reunited With Old Friends Via Video Call

Steve Harvey

A Steve Harvey breakdown followed what can only be described as a heart-warming, surprise call live on his birthday.

The Family Feud host and comedian broke down in tears after receiving a phone call he wasn't expecting from an old friend on his talk show, Ask Steve. Harvey was informed by his producers that he had a surprise call waiting on the line, and after explaining that he didn't really like surprised, seemingly broke into tears as soon as he saw the face of his mystery caller. "This is Rich Liss from Orlando, Fla.," Liss said. "Do you still love me, baby?" Eventually - after moments of disbelief and pure emotion, Harvey answered Liss' question, saying, "I love you, man." As it turns out, Liss and his wife Becky were there to help Harvey out of a hole when he was a 26-year-old struggling comedian running a carpet cleaning business. "I didn't have nothing," Harvey said, choking back the tears. "These people took me in."

Having accumulated an $11,000 bill that Liss never made him pay for, Harvey vowed to get his saviour back to his show. "I got money now, Rich," he said. "I'm going to fly a plane out to Orlando to pick up you and Becky. I'm going to fly you out to the show. I've been looking for you for years, man. You guys bailed me out, and I never forgot it."

Steve Harvey Breakdown: Comedian Bursts Into Tears At TV Surprise (Video)

Steve Harvey

A TV surprise saw comedian Steve Harvey breakdown in tears on the long-running game show Family Feud this week. The legendary American comedian showed his emotional side after taking an unexpected call during the show’s taping as part of his birthday special (he turned 56 on January 17, 2013).

Producers cut to a call via satellite, with a man appearing on-screen and wishing Harvey a happy birthday. It caused Harvey to whisper “Aw, man” before pacing the stage. “This is Rich Liss from Orlando, Florida,” the man said. “Do you still love me, baby?” Harvey was seen bending over, choking back sobs and trying to compose himself for a few moments. “Hey, man,” he finally said, before adding, “I love you.”

It turns out Rich and his wife Becky were early supporters of Harvey when he was an aspiring comedian running a fledging carpet cleaning business. They stuck by him while he tried to break into the tough comedy world, something Harvey has never forgotten, “I was struggling…I didn't have nothing. And these people... took me in.”
