We’ve got to hand it to Steve Martin, at 67 we thought the actor’s child-making days were over, but it seems we were all wrong! It’s emerged that the famously private actor and his 41 year-old wife Annie Stringfield have quietly had a child together.

According to the New York Post, Martin and Stringfield successfully became parents in December and have been spotted near their home in Los Angeles with their new arrival. Said a source to the publication, “They’ve had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows. Steve’s very private.” The source added, “They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby.”The pair have been married for over five years after a bash in 2007 that featured guests including Tom Hanks and Diane Keaton.

Though Martin isn’t shy about hitting the red carpet, and is far from a recluse, he’s done a good job in recent years of keeping his private life exactly that: private. Therefore it’s no real surprise that he’s managed to have a tot without many people knowing. What is the surprise is that he’s had the tot at all, 67 isn’t the spruciest of ages, but we doff our cap to Martin for still embracing all the passion that life has to offer even as he approaches his eighth decade alive. He'll have plenty of time to focus on being a dad too, with very little lined-up work wise this year.
