Steven Tyler Is Convinced His Aerosmith Bandmates Are Far From Happy With His Decision To Branch Out As A Country Music Artist, But He Insists He'll Be At The Forefront Of A New Movement When His New Career Takes Off.
The Walk This Way rocker released his first country single, Love Is Your Name, last month (May15), and as the track moves up the U.S. charts, Tyler admits he still hasn't had any positive feedback from Joe Perry or his other bandmates.
In an interview with Rolling Stone Country, he says, "I'm sure they're not happy, but Joe has done five solo albums. I just thought, 'Hey, it's my turn in the barrel'."
And Tyler, who teamed up with country music mogul Scott Borchetta and his Big MAChine Label Group for his latest venture, gushes about his new foray into the genre, adding, "This is a side project, which has now turned into a love of life... Country songs really spell out what’s on a guy’s mind in no uncertain terms. Rock 'n' roll can be a little more aloof. But country is changing.
"Jaren Johnston and the Cadillac Three and Florida Georgia Line are proving that you can go any which way. Modern country might add a little a cappella or raps or heavier beats. God knows Brad Paisley plays guitar like a motherf**ker. I think country is the new rock 'n' roll - everyone is trying to stretch out."
