The original members of Sugababes have reformed, under a different name, Bbc News reports. Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy will be recording and releasing new material under the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan. A band still continues to exist under the name Sugababes, but contains none of the original members of the band. Keisha Buchanan was the last of the original trio to leave the band (which now consists of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen) but was unable to discuss the circumstances surrounding the use of the name.
New promotional shots have been released of the trio, who formed the band in 1998 and released their debut album in 2000. Rumours of a reunion being on the cards have been circulating for months and now the report confirms that they have been recording with Emeli Sande and the producer Naughty Boy, working on new material. In an interview with the Popjustice website Keisha explained that her lips are sealed, when it comes to discussions of the band. "Basically, I can't say too much about it," she explained. "Legally I've been told I can't speak about it." In a 2011 interview with Newsbeat, she told reporters much the same: "Legally I can't go into too much detail," she said. "I've got no hard feelings towards anyone and I understand that life has to go on."
Keisha was the last of the original members to leave the band, in 2009. Mutya left in 2005, saying that she was leaving for "personal reasons" and started a family soon after. Siobhan was the first to leave, back in 2001.
