Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row Records who has been charged with murder following a hit-and-run in Compton, has been rushed to hospital after his first day in court. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Knight was checked over by doctors after complaining of chest pains.

Prosecutors claim Knight intended to run down two men after an argument in a parking lot, though the music mogul and his lawyer claim it was an accident. The 49-year-old faces a total of four charges and faces life in prison if convicted. A truck driven by Knight knocked down and killed Terry Carter, 55, in Compton last week. Another man, Cle "Bone" Sloan, 51, was seriously injured.

"Terry was coming up in the lot, the car hits him, knocks him down, and it just rolls over him - the tire ran over his head," an on-set source told The Guardian.

Earlier this week, a commissioner revoked Knight' $2 million bail after police said he had a violent past and could potentially intimidate a witness. The music producer has previously been convicted of armed robbery and assault with a firearm.

Asked in court if Knight was remorseful for the tragedy, the mogul's lawyer said: "Of course...He feels bad that someone is deceased. It's not his fault."

The question for the jury remains whether Knight was indeed trying to defend himself by fleeing the scene and accidentally ran over Carter, or whether he did it intentionally.
