The glam rock icon's book Through My Eyes is a collection of candid, thought-provoking poetry and prose. The poems, which Suzi has been writing since she was a child, reportedly reveal the musician's deepest and most intimate feelings about love, her career, to the acrimony and disillusionment of her various relationships.

In an interview with British newspaper The Daily Mirror she said: "I've been writing poetry since I was seven - no diary for me! - and I've always been passionate about the written word and everything it encompasses: the rhythm, the rhyme, the revelation, the dark, the light, the mystery and the emotion."

"To leave the words inside would have killed me!" the Can the Can singer added.

Suzi, 66, was the first female bass player to become a major rock star, breaking a barrier to women's participation in rock music.

In the '70s, she scored a string of hit singles in Europe and Australia. The star also had a recurring role as bass player Leather Tuscadero on the popular American sitcom Happy Days, after which her duet Stumblin' In with Chris Norman reached number four in the American charts in 1979.
