Let’s face it: Tara Reid isn’t exactly the most sought after actress in Hollywood, but she’s pretty good at not taking herself too seriously.

Sharknado, then, was perfect for her; a B-movie based on a ridiculous premise, not striving for critical acclaim and sure to be an ironic hit.

The made-for-TV film is headed towards cinemas on August 2nd, such is its popularity, and a sequel has already been confirmed.

But is the resurrection of Reid’s career – albeit in a ‘love to hate’ capacity - been stunted by another rejection?

Rumours have abounded that producers of the film have axed the 37-year-old, so much so that the American Pie actress took to Twitter to set the record straight.

“There is no script for sharknado 2 until i read it then i will make a decision but everyone that is saying i got cut that is not true #liars,” she wrote.

It’s difficult to see why producers would try and change too much; with movies like this – simply designed to be mocked and ironically lauded – people only every want more of the same, not an attempt to try something new. For the first time, probably ever, our advice would be to stick with Tara Reid.

The premiere of the first film was watched by 1.37 million viewers on SyFy, which is a touch lower than the channel would expect, but the subsequent Twitter storm that followed the shark storm indicated to the producers that ‘yes, we want more sharks, guys, flying into peoples heads and bodies’.
