A Woman Who Is Accused Of Harassing Taryn Manning Is Facing Further Jail Time Amid Allegations She Violated A Court Order By Attempting To Contact The Actress.
Jeanine Heller, 32, struck a plea deal with prosecutors after admitting a charge of criminal contempt for harassing the Orange is the New Black star online. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail and intensive therapy, and she was also banned from contacting Manning or using a computer.
The order was later relaxed, allowing her limited use of the Internet, but the agreement has now been thrown into jeopardy as prosecutors allege Heller has broken the terms of the deal by attempting to get in touch with Manning.
During a hearing at Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City on Monday (22Jun15), Judge Ann Scherzer chastised Heller and again banned her from using computers, saying, "I view your relationship with a computer the way I view a heroin addict's with heroin. You cannot be in a room with a computer, you cannot be in a house with a computer, you cannot visit someone with a computer..."
Heller is due back in court on 16 July (15) for a follow-up hearing to determine whether she broke the terms of her plea deal and she faces a year in jail if she is found to have breached the conditions.
Manning's publicist Jennifer Abel says, "Taryn says that all she wants as the outcome here is to see this woman get the help she so desperately needs, and to have her, her family and friends, be finally left alone."
