The 37 year old, who played Will Smith's cousin Ashley Banks in 'Fresh Prince...' between 1990 and 1996, is getting married later this year.
Former ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ star Tatyana Ali shared two pieces of massive news with her fans this week – not only is she getting married this summer, she’s also expecting her first baby!
The actress, 37, was being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight on Thursday (March 31st) when she revealed the big news. After a year and a half of dating, she’ll be walking down the aisle with Dr Vaughan Raspberry at some point over the summer.
“Planning our wedding has been so exciting, but when we found out we were expecting, our perspective shifted completely,” said Ali. “We want our ceremony to really celebrate our newest blessing!”
Children of the ‘90s who can remember Ali playing fresh-faced Ashley Banks as a teenager in ‘Fresh Prince…’ between 1990 and 1996 will be alarmed at how much time has passed. Intelligent Ashley was Will Smith’s character’s cousin and closest ally in the charmingly dysfunctional Banks household, and won the hearts of many fans.
Ali briefly attempted a career in pop music with a handful of minor hits in 1998, but quit that to successfully pursue a degree at Harvard University in African-American Studies and Government. She has played minor roles in TV series and films ever since the cult series wrapped 20 years ago.
Her wedding planner, Michael Russo, shared a picture of the happy couple a few hours later on Thursday which also displayed Ali’s growing baby bump. “Sending an epic congratulations to my new bride and mommy to be Tatyana Ali,” he wrote.
Ali added that Dr. Raspberry, whom she met on dating website eHarmony, popped the question in “the most picturesque clearing” during a hike through the Redwoods in Yosemite. Of their meeting online, she remembered: “It was my first time dating online… we wrote letters for months before we decided to Skype. And then, of course, met.”
