Katy Perry has edged out her fierce rival Taylor Swift to be named as the highest-earning female musician of 2015, with estimated income of $88 million in a 12-month period, according to the annual article by Forbes.

Perry’s Prismatic world tour accounted for the substantial part of her earnings, as she took approximately $1.3 million on every stop on the massive haul. Sponsorship deals tied in with the tour also added to this number, with deals with cosmetics brand Covergirl and fashion accessories company Claire’s as well as her fragrances released in conjunction with Coty.

Taylor Swift is being sued for copyright infringement by a struggling musician, who claims that the superstar ripped off one of his songs for the lyrics of her mega-hit ‘Shake It Off’.

American R&B singer Jesse Braham alleges that Swift uses substantially the same 22-word phrase she uses in the chorus for her former Number 1 single ‘Shake It Off’ as he did for his 2013 song ‘Haters Gone Hate’. According to legal papers, Braham is claiming copyright infringement of the phrases “haters gone hate” and “playas gone play”, which also appear in Swift’s song.

Taylor Swift has launched a lawsuit of her own in retaliation against the Denver radio DJ who sued her, after he claimed lost his job when she falsely claimed that he had groped her.

Former radio host David Mueller opened a lawsuit in a US district court in Denver in September this year, saying that he was falsely accused by a member of Swift’s security team of grabbing the singer’s buttocks during a photo meet-and-greet session backstage at the Pepsi Center in the city on June 2nd 2013.

Ryan Adams has compared Taylor Swift to Shakespeare while describing the process of covering her 1989 album. Speaking to The Guardian, Adams opened up about his feelings towards Swift's music and revealed he’s actually been a fan of the singer for years.

Canadian pop star The Weeknd has pleaded no contest to a charge of assaulting a police officer and will therefore avoid jail time, according a new report.

Back in January this year, the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, made headline when he was alleged to have punched a police officer in the head after the cops arrived at the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas, reacting to reports of a disturbance. The officer in question is believed to have separated Tesfaye and the person he was brawling with and dragged him into an elevator, where he then lashed out and struck the officer in the head.

Taylor Swift’s mammoth 1989 world tour has so far grossed over $173 million, according to Billboard’s Hot Tours list. It’s the sixth time so far this year that the singer has topped Billboard’s weekly tally of highest-grossing touring artists, making $13.6 million in this week alone.

Swift took $13.6 million from just three venues on the second leg of her North American tour, bringing the total gross of her ‘1989’ shows to $173 million from 59 reported concerts. The tour’s second leg began on July 6 in Ottawa and is set to end in Tampa at the end of October.

1D fans have been speculating that the new song’s lyrics are about Harry Styles’ ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, whom the singer dated for three months between October 2012 and January 2013.

“If you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about / baby I'm perfect, baby we're perfect” go the words to the chorus, possibly a reference to Swift’s fondness for writing songs about her ex-partners. However, the potential Swifty allusions don’t stop there.

Taylor Swift has pretty much taken over the world in the last 12 months, with the enormous success of her current album 1989, which has sold 8.6 million copies around the world since it was released in November last year. However, she’s revealed that she’ll be taking a hard-earned break from music when her world tour finishes in December.

25 year old Swift has been on the road pretty much constantly since May, when the guest star-studded '1989 World Tour' kicked off with a brace of shows in Tokyo. She’s apparently worried that spending so long in the public eye might cause people to get tired of her.

“I think I should take some time off,” she confessed in a new interview. “People might need a break from me. I'm going to hang out with friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don't know,” she said.

Pop megastar Ed Sheeran and TV star Ruby Rose have been unveiled as the co-hosts for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Milan.

Both stars have revealed their excitement at being selected to host the event together, which is being held at the Mediolanum Forum in the northern Italian city on October 25th.

Sheeran announced to his 15 million Twitter followers on Wednesday (September 30th) that he had been picked to present. “So happy to say I'm hosting the #MTVEMAs on 25th October! Cannot wait,” he wrote.

Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to an online fund to help the baby nephew of one of her back-up dancers, who is ill with cancer.

On Wednesday (September 30th), 25 year old Swift made the sizeable donation on GoFundMe page set up by 13 month old Ayden’s family just the day before, which had a funding target of $20,000 at the outset. With the singer’s help, it’s already raised $53,000 in 24 hours.

“Baby Ayden, I'm lucky enough to perform with your uncle Toshi on tour. All of us are praying for you and your mama and sending so much love your way. Love, Taylor,” she wrote on the page.

Jessica Alba was left a little bit shaken when she was “body checked” by Kylie Jenner’s bodyguards. Taylor Swift is reportedly being sued by a Colorado radio DJ who claims he was fired from his job after the singer accused him of grabbed her bottom during a meeting in 2013. According to CNN, Mueller, who goes by the name of Jackson, has filed a lawsuit against in U.S. District Court looking to ‘recuperate his lost income’.

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez are friends again! The two reportedly fell out a while ago but have managed to get their friendship back on track. This figure is quite impressive when you consider that the 25 year old doesn’t actually post that many pictures. She’s only taken 689 pics (at the time of writing), whereas Kardashian has posted over 3,000 times, most of them selfies.

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Democrat nominee hopeful Hillary Clinton, revealed she thinks Kanye West’s decision to run for President in 2020 is “awesome”. The director of Taylor Swift’s ‘Wildest Dreams’ music video has defended his work against accusations of racism. The video, which is set on a 1940s style film set on safari, has been accused of presenting a "white colonial fantasy of Africa".

The African-themed video for Taylor Swift’s new single ‘Wildest Dreams’ has been denounced by some corners of the internet as being racially insensitive, portraying an “African colonial fantasy”.

The video, which was officially unveiled at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 30th), has already attracted more than 15 million views. It was directed by Joseph Kahn, who previously directed two of Swift’s five singles so far from 1989 – ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Bad Blood’.

Kanye West was honoured with the the Video Vanguard Award at last night’s MTV VMAs and used his acceptance speech to get a few things off his chest. West was presented the award by Taylor Swift and delivered a passionate speech touching on the idea of artistry, the merits of award shows and his possible move into politics.

Kanye West has announced that he’ll be performing his fourth album 808s & Heartbreak in its entirety during a show in Los Angeles next month.

Miley Cyrus has been voted the worst celebrity role model for children in a new survey of British parents. A whopping 78% of parents of children under 10 say that the former ‘Hannah Montana’ star is “off the rails” and wouldn’t want their kids to idolise her.

The survey by British website vouchercloud.com asked 2,287 British parents, all of whom have at least one child under the age of 10, the question: “are there any celebrities you would hate for your children to idolise?” and were provided with a list of male and female celebrities to select from.

For the third year in a row, Calvin Harris has been announced as the world’s highest paid DJ. The Oxford Union, the debating society at Oxford University is trying to persuade Taylor Swift to travel to the city to give a speech by releasing a hilarious mash-up video of former guest speakers reciting the lyrics to her hit single ‘Shake It Off’.

Stephen Fry kicks off the clip opening with the line “I stay up too late”, before a range of prestigious speakers including Morgan Freeman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Piers Morgan, Richard Dawkins, Sir Ian McKellen, FIFA president Sepp Blatter and ‘Gangnam Style’ singer Psy are cut up and rearranged to recite other key lines from the song. Singer Taylor Swift is reportedly thinking of buying a £4.6 million castle in Scotland to be close to her boyfriend Calvin Harris. The ‘Bad Blood’ singer and the Scottish DJ have only been dating for the past few months but it sounds like things could be getting serious quickly.

Taylor Swift has taken some adorable photos of her first meeting with her newborn godson. Her best friend Jamie King welcomed the baby boy last week, and the singer posted a cute image on Instagram on Tuesday (July 29th) with the caption “Meeting my boy”.

Leo Thames Newman was born on July 16th, the second child for 36 year old King and her husband Kyle Newman. The couple are already parents to another son, James Knight, who was born in October 2013. King announced in February that she was expected another baby, and revealing the following month that the 1989 superstar would be the child’s godmother.
