A film adaptation of 'Cats' shoots this Fall.
Finally, after 37 years, Andrew Lloyd Webber's beloved musical 'Cats' is getting a musical film, and the recently announced all-star cast is enough to get us very excited about it. The only thing that would make this better right now would be to learn that Lin-Manuel Miranda was joining - but there is hope yet.
Ever since the 2014 revival, there has been renewed interest in this fascinating production and the movie version is almost guaranteed to be a hit. 'Cats' is set to start shooting in November this year with an experienced cast that really couldn't get much better.
Copyright infringement between 2017 and 2018.
It seems we can't go a year without some big hit being slapped with an accusation of plagiarism by a usually not-famous songwriter. In 2014 it was Robin Thicke and Pharrell's 'Blurred Lines', then it was Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me' and Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk', and the case regarding Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway To Heaven' was even appealed in 2017.
This last year really seems to have been thick with copyright infringement claims, with the latest being Childish Gambino and his politically-charged monster hit 'This Is America'.

Some things in this world are so pure they deserve to be spoken about. Like fandoms colliding in the most awesome way when Taylor Swift snapped a selfie with British singer Adele and 'Harry Potter' author Jk Rowling. This turned out to be the best UK tour the singer has ever had.
Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium
The 28-year-old 'Look What You Made Me Do' hitmaker has been documenting her Reputation Stadium Tour on Instagram, this month kicking off the UK and Ireland leg. On June 8th she performed her first ever UK stadium show at Manchester's Etihad Stadium with a second set the following night, as well as two shows at Dublin's Croke Park on June 15th and 16th and at Wembley Stadium onJune 22nd and 23rd.

He thinks artists ought to own their political opinions in public.
Say what you like about Trent Reznor, but he's certainly not afraid to tell it like it is. He opened up in an interview recently about the voice of superstars in the current climate, and his disdain for artists like Taylor Swift who refuse to speak out on important political matters.
Trent Reznor at ASCAP
The Nine Inch Nails frontman thinks that influential musicians sharing their opinions of social and political issues is of vital importance for young people and others who may not be able to voice their feelings but need somebody to stand-up on their behalf. He also thinks that stars like Taylor Swift, who avoid entering into political discussions, care more about their 'brand' than what's going on in the world.

Allee Willis doesn't sugarcoat her thoughts on the banjo cover.
The songwriter for Earth, Wind & Fire's 1978 song 'September', Allee Willis, has lashed out at Taylor Swift's acoustic rendition of the song for leading streaming service Spotify. She certainly didn't mince her words as she spoke about the 'boring' cover during a recent music event in Michigan.
Taylor Swift at the Billboard Music Awards
Re-hashed as part of the 'Spotify Singles' series in April and recorded at The Tracking Room in Nashville, Taylor Swift's 'September' divided opinion with its banjo acoustics and down-played vocals. But it was the original songwriter for the song, which featured on 'The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1', who had the most to say about it.
The pair have been involved in a very public feud for a number of years
Their feud has had the pop world hooked since it began at least four years ago. Music juggernauts, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, have traded blows during interviews, on social media and even in their songs. However, it seems those times are over after Katy sent Taylor an actual olive branch to heal their rift.
Katy Perry has come over all angelic and decided to heal her rift with Taylor Swift
Swifty, who is about to start her Reputation tour, shared a video of the package she received from Katy - which appeared to include a note with the words "miscommunications" and "deeply sorry" written on it.

A man has been taken into custody on suspicion of stalking.
It's no wonder, sometimes, that Taylor Swift is so keen to keep her private life out of the public eye. A masked man wearing rubber gloves was recently arrested outside her home in Beverly Hills on suspicion of stalking. That would have been the most terrifying thing were it not for the paraphernalia that was discovered in his car at the time of the arrest.

The man was identified by police as 38-year-old Julius Sandrock from Colorado, and it has been reported that he had rope, a knife, firearm ammunition, more masks and more gloves stowed away in his vehicle. He was taken into custody on Saturday (April 14th 2018) and released yesterday morning.

The singer was put on the spot about her feud with Swifty on American Idol
The feud between award-winning songstresses Katy Perry and Taylor Swift has been well-documented over the years since the pair had their alleged fall-out at least five years ago. But now, with Perry’s new role on reality singing show, American Idol, it seems Katy - at least - is ready to break the ice.

She denies rumours that she was encouraged to go solo.
With rumours flying around that Camila Cabello was persuaded to leave girl group Fifth Harmony by her pal Taylor Swift, the former has been forced to deny such a suggestion so that people stop criticising the latter over the situation. She's had enough to deal with lately.
Camila Cabello at the iHeart Radio Music Awards
The 21-year-old 'Havana' singer wants everyone to know that she's not quite as easily led as people seem to believe she is, and that her decision to depart Fifth Harmony and embark on a solo career was purely down to her. Taylor Swift had nothing to do with it.

Swift confirmed fan rumours that the former Fifth Harmony star would be supporting her on tour this year - and added that British star Charli XCX would also be on board.
Rumours had emerged earlier this week regarding whom Swift would be selecting for her tour support, and the singer herself took to Instagram last night to confirm what people had been guessing at.
“This is a Reputation stadium tour update, and I’ve been wanting to tell you this for a really time,” said Swift in a video posted on Thursday night (March 1st). “The opening acts on the Reputation Stadium Tour will be Charli XCX and Camila Cabello."
Two songwriters had claimed that the chorus of Swift's song had been stolen from their 2000 song 'Playas Gon' Play', written for short-lived group 3LW.
A judge in California has thrown out a lawsuit filed against Taylor Swift for copyright infringement brought by two songwriters who claimed that she had ripped off lyrics of their song for Swift’s 2014 hit ‘Shake It Off’.
Songwriting duo Sean Hall and Nathan Butler argued in their lawsuit, which they brought last summer, that Swift had stolen lyrics from their 2000 song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’, written for the American girl group 3LW, for ‘Shake It Off’, which became an international megahit for Swift four years ago.
The 3LW song has lyrics that read: “Playas, they gonna play / And haters, they gonna hate”. Compare that to the chorus to Swift’s hit single, which goes, “‘Cause the players gonna play, play, play / And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.”
Mississippi station WMYQ-FM has reportedly hired David Mueller as a presenter, despite losing the much-publicised court battle against Swift over allegations he groped her last summer.
Taylor Swift’s fans have reacted with outrage at the news that David Mueller, the DJ who was sacked for reportedly groping the singer at a meet-and-greet five years ago, has been hired by a radio station in Mississippi.
Mueller lost his job at KYGO-FM in Denver, Colorado after Swift’s security and management team complained that he had allegedly groped her buttocks during a photo op at the media event back in 2013. He subsequently sued Swift for $3 million, claiming she had ruined his career with a false accusation.
She launched a countersuit against him claiming that he had assaulted her, however, and during a court appearance last summer a jury ruled in Swift’s favour and Mueller’s lawsuit was dismissed.
Iconic record producer Quincy Jones has slammed Taylor Swift's songwriting.
The legendary music producer has taken aim at the chart-topping star's songwriting talents, suggesting that her tunes are too hook-heavy.
Quincy - who has previously worked with the likes of Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra - told GQ magazine: ''We need more songs, man. F**king songs, not hooks.''

The Look What You Made Me Do hitmaker suffered because she decided to withhold her music from streaming services
In 2017, multi-award winning singer Taylor Swift’s critically-acclaimed album, Reputation, sold more than any other album by any other artist. However, the super star hitmaker hasn’t managed to make it to the number one spot on the Top 10 album chart in the US.
Taylor Swift's album, Reputation, sold almost two million copies in just seven weeks
Despite selling almost two million albums, it seems 1,903,000 records purchased in just seven weeks was not enough to get her to the top spot: because she withheld her music on streaming services until December.
We love these funny, intense and unique pop videos.
These days it's difficult to get away with a music video that's all singing, all dancing with wind machines. It's becoming more and more popular to go for a more conceptual piece; like a mini cinematic montage to rival Hollywood. Indeed, these artists have all done something a little bit different with their musical outputs.
Zombie Taylor Swift in 'Look What You Made Me Do'
1. Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do: The snakes, the bath of diamonds, the zombie Taylor... We just couldn't get enough of this video this summer. The 27-year-old performed her new song 'Call It What You Want' during 'Saturday Night Live' last week (November 11th 2017), and even though she was just sat in fairly ordinary clothes playing her acoustic guitar, something about her meant her audience couldn't take their eyes off her.

'Reputation' is out this week, but maybe only on CD and downloads.
Rumours have arisen that Taylor Swift plans to withhold her new album 'Reputation' from streaming services upon its release this week; a suggestion that isn't altogether surprising, though none of her representatives have confirmed such a move as of yet. Needless to say, we'll find out soon enough.
Taylor Swift at the BMI Pop Awards
The 27-year-old is reportedly blocking her forthcoming sixth studio album from being streamed on such services as Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal for a least a week after its release. While many artists - including herself - have complained in the past about artist rights when it comes to the link between royalties and streaming, these days the format accounts for two-thirds of the recording industry's revenue in the US alone.
She drops her newest single and it's all about her beau.
Taylor Swift reassures everyone that she's doing just fine now that she is going steady with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, and says so in her brand new song 'Call It What You Want'. It's the fourth single from her hugely anticipated forthcoming studio album 'Reputation'.
Taylor Swift at the CMA Awards
The 27-year-old drops a new lyric video for the track, which begins with clips from her collection of personal videos - the likes of which she posts on Instagram. And the song itself is an insistence that despite all the public feuds she's been involved with, she's never been happier now that she's in love with her latest squeeze.
This video is even better than the previous.
After some controversial teaser clips, Taylor Swift has unveiled the full music video for her single '...Ready For It?', and it's every bit the sci-fi fantasy she promised. But once you get over the sensational visuals, you'll find plenty of subtle references to her life and career in there.
Taylor Swift spotted in New York
People were shocked to see Taylor looking almost naked in the teasers for the Joseph Kahn-directed video, but it's less controversial when you see it in full. She's actually channelling 'Ghost in the Shell', as well as other sci-fi worlds such as 'Blade Runner' and 'Tron: Legacy'.
Singer appears nude in 'Ghost In The Shell' style clip.
Taylor Swift has her fans doing a double take at her latest video; a teaser for her single '...Ready For It?' which has proved controversial since it dropped this week. In just a series of sci-fi style frames she manages to completely destroy her former 'nice girl' image.
Taylor Swift at the BMI Pop Awards
It seems the 27-year-old really wasn't kidding when she said the old Taylor was dead in her comeback single 'Look What You Made Me Do' - indeed, her Instagram bio now reads the lyric: 'The old Taylor can't come to the phone right now' as she shares a 20-second clip of the forthcoming '...Ready For It?' video three times.
Could she really be talking about Joe Alwyn?
Taylor Swift releases a new promotional single entitled 'Gorgeous'; yet another infectious pop tune that we will be singing forever, or at least until her next song comes out. Though it is markedly different from the other already released tracks from 'Reputation', it's just further evidence of her indomitable pop genius.

'Gorgeous' is an upbeat tune about being infatuated with a good-looking young man, despite being in a relationship with an older guy. 'I got a boyfriend, he's older than us / He's in the club doing I don't know what / You're so cool it makes me hate you so much', she sings, later adding: 'You make me so happy it turns back to sad / There's nothing I hate more than what I can't have.'

'Look What You Made Me Do' bears a lot of similarities to 'My Humps' and 'Just Like You'.
Even when you're sure to credit an artist for inspiring a song, you still end up with people accusing you of creative theft. Fergie fans have hit out at Taylor Swift for her song 'Look What You Made Me Do' over claims that it sounds much too similar to one of Fergie's own hits.
Fergie performs live on the 'Today' show
Andy Cohen got the former Black Eyed Peas singer to address the suggestion that 'Look What You Made Me Do' sounds suspiciously like the 2005 tune 'My Humps' on 'Watch What Happens Live'. But what's awesome is that she didn't even seem phased at the idea of someone borrowing from her music. In fact, she seemed excited to bring up another of her songs that bears similarities.

The singer is being sued for an unspecified amount over similarities to 3LW song.
The old Taylor Swift may be dead but her previous hits are definitely not forgotten, particularly not by one songwriting duo who have accused the popstar of stealing their lyrics for her 2014 song 'Shake It Off'. There is certainly something uncanny about the similarities.
Taylor Swift at the CMA Awards
The 27-year-old might have done the honourable thing by crediting Right Said Fred for inspiring one of her newest singles 'Look What You Made Me Do', but Sean Hall and Nathan Butler are not happy that they never received credit for inspiring her 'Shake It Off' lyrics with their 2001 song 'Playas Gon' Play' recorded by the girl band 3LW.

During her appearance on 'Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen' last night (September 13th 2017), she was asked about whether she did indeed still have Taylor Swift's scarf in her drawer as the latter's lyrics to 'All Too Well' suggest; a song that was allegedly written about her brief relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal back in 2010.
