With '1989' becoming a smash hit across the globe, a world tour announcement was inevitable; but with 2012's 'The RED Tour' becoming a sold-out sensation, Taylor Swift has some pretty large shoes to fill - her own! Swift made a nod towards the '1989 World Tour' while on 'Good Morning America' after performing a concert in Times Square as the final act of promotion for her fifth studio album.

The '1989 World Tour' is due to begin on 20th May, 2015, in Louisiana, USA. From there, the tour will continue across eight countries and four continents. As well as performing in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia, this tour will mark Swifts' first ever show in Scotland. The American singer/songwriter will also headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2015 in London as part of the tour.

In 2012, Swift undertook 'The RED Tour', which saw over 80 shows around the world, including five sold-out performances at London's O2 Arena. Swift also broke records in China, with her shows becoming the fastest ticket sales in the country's history; her Shanghai show sold out within one minute of tickets being available. She was also the first female solo artist to perform a national stadium tour in Australia.

The '1989 Tour' has every potential to be bigger, after the album topped the online sales charts in 95 countries and became 2014's highest first-week release in the US. It debuted at number 1 in the UK charts, with more sales than the combined five following albums. The album's first single, 'Shake it Off' took the number one spot in 64 countries, with two million sales in the US alone, and eleven weeks in a row on in the top 10 of the charts. Taylor Swift is the youngest woman in history to release an album with over one million sales in the first week three times. She did this with 2010's 'Speak Now', 2012's 'RED' and now with 2014's '1989'.

Tickets go on sale on 7th November, 2014
