Best pals Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are celebrating after topping the U.K. albums and singles charts, respectively with their latest releases.

Swift enters the album countdown at one with 1989 after shifting over 90,000 copies in its first week on sale, earning the title as the fastest-selling album of the year so far by a female artist.

Sheeran's X moves up one place to two, followed by In The Lonely Hour by Sam Smith.

Sheeran is also flying high in the U.K. singles chart after his song Thinking Out Loud climbed to number one 19 weeks after its debut.

The singer originally released the track in June (14), when it entered at number 26, but the tune has since leaped to the top, making it his second chart-topper in six months following the success of Sing earlier this year (14).

The feat means Sheeran now holds the record for the longest climb to first place - Celine Dion's Think Twice previously held the title after taking 13 weeks to hit pole position 20 years ago.

Celebrating the news on Instagram.com on Sunday (02Nov14), he writes, "It's official ! Thinking out loud is my 2nd Uk #1 from (his album) X. Thanks to everyone supporting it, it's mental (crazy) that its the longest ever climbing single to reach #1. 19 weeks and we here (sic)."

Thinking Out Loud ends Meghan Trainor's four-week reign in first place; All About That Bass slips to two, while Swift is at three with Shake It Off.
