With great stardom comes great responsibility, as Taylor Swift proved this year. The singer had a phenomenally successful year with her RED tour, but she was also very charitable with her earning – the most charitable celebrity, in fact, according to DoSomething’s annual list for 2013.

Taylor Swift, Winter Whites Gala
The beautiful and talented Swift turned out to be quite charitable as well.

Taylor Swift fans will know that she’s no stranger to charitable donations and was also on the list last year. In 2013, however, there were several notable events, which helped Taylor stand out from the pack.

A release, quoted by Entertainment Weekly, notes Swift’s work at the recent Winter White Gala in London, a benefit for homeless youth, as well as her latest liberal gift to the Nashville music scene — a $100,000 donation to the Nashville Symphony, bequeathed on Swift’s 24th birthday.

One Direction, American Music Award
One Direction came in second place for their work with Comic Relief.

It looks like success and charity do go hand in hand because the second spot on the list is occupied by none other than the guys from One Direction. No wonder – Harry, Zayn, Liam, Louis and Niall started the year with charity work in Ghana with Comic Relief. Later in the year, Harry Styles and Liam Payne raised over $800,000 for cancer research this year as well. That’s their good deed for the year sorted then. Other celebs to make the list of people, who are officially better than us all, include Beyonce, who worked with Chime for Change and Goodlwill this year, the late Paul Walker with his work for Reach Out Worldwide and the hip hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, whose single Same Love sparked a nation-wide conversation about marriage equality.
