The pop star helped Minaj open the show, ending their brief social media feud over the VMA nominations earlier this summer (15), and later presented her one-time enemy Kanye West with the night's Video Vanguard Award.

She was a winner before the ceremony even started, presenting her new promo on the red carpet during the pre-show event after learning her video for Blank Space had been chosen as the Best Pop Video.

Swift went on to win Best Female Video and Best Collaboration - with the night's triple winner Kendrick Lamar - and ended the big night by picking up the coveted Video of the Year honour for her star-studded Bad Blood promo.

Joined onstage by her famous friends who featured in the explosive girl power promo, Swift said, "These women helped create their parts, helped write their roles and decide what they wanted to be... The fact that you would vote and give us this bonding experience forever, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

"I know there's been a lot of discussion about this video and what it means, but I'm just happy that in 2015 we live in a world where boys can play princesses and girls can play soldiers."

The 32nd VMAs also featured some show-stopping performances from Minaj and Swift, Justin Bieber, MACklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams, The Weeknd and Demi Lovato, but the 2015 ceremony will largely be remembered for drama onstage.

Nicki Minaj clashed with Miley Cyrus over comments the show host made about her in a New York Times article last week (ends28Aug15) and Kanye delivered a rambling rant about his twisted reputation and his dislike for awards shows during his Video Vanguard acceptance speech.
