Alex Band - the lead singer from American rock band The Calling – was abducted after performing at Lapeer Days festival in Lapeer, Michigan. He was subsequently beaten within an inch of his life and left at a railroad crossing with a fractured spine, unconscious.

Since his attack, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning (Aug, 18) Band has moved to deny rumors that his abduction and assault were faked, or related to drugs, something he’s openly had problems with in the past. "I take my rehabilitation very seriously," he said. "I was near death due to this unbelievable situation, and the rumors are categorically false."

The Calling's Alex Band Re-Lives Nightmare Abduction In Latest Statement

Alex Band, the frontman of the soft rock group The Calling, was apparently abducted and robbed over the weekend, as the singer has told various press outlets since the alleged incident. FOX 2 in Detroit were the first to report that the singer was the victim of a kidnapping in Lapeer, Michigan, during which time he was allegedly beaten, robbed and abandoned on some nearby train tracks about a day later by two unknown men.

Band told Fox that as he was leaving his hotel on Sunday (18 August) night to visit a near-by mini-market, having performed with the band earlier that day at the Lapeer Days Festival. A statement from the band also reveals that the singer was grabbed by one of the two men upon leaving his room and was hit over the back of the head by a police baton. He was continually beaten and had a gun pointed at him throughout the incident, during which time the kidnappers demanded some of Band’s 'Hollywood money.' He then told the assailants that he was about to be a father, after which he was apparently told "we don’t kill fathers" by one of the abductors. They then continued to beat him a little longer before abandoning him at a nearby railroad track in Lapeer.

Alex Band Abducted In Michigan: 'The Calling' Frontman Injured But Safe

Alex Band was abducted whilst walking on a Michigan street. Band, the lead singer of rock band The Calling, was abducted, beaten and left on railway tracks. He was walking back to his hotel on Sunday (18th August) from a mini-market. He was, with the other members of The Calling, in Lapeer to perform at a music festival. At around 4am he was snatched, according to an official statement released by the band, by two men driving a "blue coloured minivan." Band was "grabbed by the shirt and hit from behind," losing his footing so he was unable to defend himself.

The two perpetrators robbed Band - although it is not certain what they took- and beat him. According to the statement, the perpetrators pointed a gun in Band's face whilst hitting him with a police baton.

Lead Singer Of 'The Calling' Abducted, Beaten, Dumped On Train Tracks

Alex Band, the lead singer of soft-rock band The Calling, was abducted, badly beaten and dumped on train tracks in Michigan over the weekend. And yes, all of this really happened.

Sources connected to the situation tell TMZ.com that the singer was in Lapeer, Michigan, for a musical festival and decided to walk from his hotel to a nearby mini-mart around 4am on Sunday morning (August 22, 2013).

During the stroll, a van pulled up alongside Alex and he was thrown inside and beaten to a pulp. The abductors proceeded to drive the singer to some nearby train tracks and dump him right on top of them.
