The Corrs star Sharon Corr was so nervous before meeting late Pope John Paul, she burst into laughter when the ailing pontiff was "wheeled" in after watching her band perform.
The violinist, who was brought up a Catholic, was honoured when she and her three siblings were asked to perform for the beloved Pope in 1997, but the tense and strictly formal affair left her hysterical with nerves.
She tells Britain's Live magazine, "Meeting the Pope gave me a fit of giggles. We met Pope John Paul in 1997 after performing at a Vatican Christmas concert and I was so nervous I had a fit of laughter when they wheeled him in.
"Meeting the Pope is not like meeting anyone else. You know he's not the kind of person you're going to relax and have a laugh with. With the Pope, it's all protocol."
