Review of Best Friend Single by The Drums

The Drums are set to release their new single 'Best Friend' with a few accompanying UK shows. The thing about this band is that you could say they wear their influences on their sleeve. There is a distinct sound about them that take you back into the early nineties. The music is always upbeat and that is no change in the shape of 'Best Friend' However straight away like the days of Morrissey, the opening lyric grabs you at the pit of your stomach this in continued with lines like "You're my best friend, but then you died, when I was twenty-three and you were twenty-five. You're my best friend, but then you died, and how will I survive, survive, survive, survive" This is a perfect mix and the fact that Jonathan Pierce's (Not the football commentator) vocals are upbeat like the music just add that weird sensation to complete 'Best Friend'.

The Drums Best Friend Single

'Best Friend' is a brilliant track and there is no doubt that we will see a lot more of this band in the year 2010. The Drums look like they have no intention of slowing down.

8/10
