The Game has filed legal papers in a bid to have all references to him as a "gangster rapper" removed from an ongoing lawsuit.
The hip-hop star - real name Jayceon Taylor - was arrested in 2007 for possessing a firearm in a school zone following an altercation on a Los Angeles basketball court. He pleaded no contest to the charge, served eight days in jail and carried out community service as part of his sentence.
But Taylor is facing a civil action from basketball coach Shannon Rodrick, who filed suit in 2008 accusing the rapper of punching and threatening him during the incident.
The Dreams hitmaker's lawyers have now filed papers asking for all 86 references to the star as a "gangster" or "gangster rapper" in the suit to be removed over fears the moniker will prejudice the case, according to
Taylor's attorneys have also asked for no mention of his lyrics during the hearings, because they contain profanity and references to violence.
