The King Blues Save The World - Get The Girl Album

The King Blues hailing from London release their new album 'Save The World - Get The Girl' on Field Recordings. Indeed being youthful musicians from London you'd expect to be exposed to a lot of different sounds. I guess these guys inspired by ska, punk and more interestingly folk create a voice of England that resonates a political awareness and social inequality with the pop sensibility to sing along in a blues haze. It's certainly testament to these guys to be saying something that the youth of today could get behind.
I guess it's the personal message of 'Save The World - Get The Girl' that portrays a sentiment and openness that can't help one but take note.

There's a lot of creativity on the album. There's some heart felt moments like 'Underneath This Lamppost Light' and 'Out Of Luck' that are done well. Upbeat numbers like 'The Schemers, The Scroungers and the Rats' and 'The Streets Are Ours' that create a lot of youthful energy. Laid back numbers like 'Hold On Tight' and a clever reflection with 'What If Punk Never Happened', an ode to the importance of punk music It's an interesting album that shows musical creativity and a voice that wants to show conscious awareness. The King Blues daringly fuse different sounds together well however always when you mix a lot of influences together it can sometimes neither be this nor that. The pop hooks avoid the possible confusion and create an interesting melting pot of sounds delivered with an attitude unique to the voice of London. Not bad.
