The Mynabirds, What We Lose in the Flood We Gain in the Fire Album review

For those who fear that artists today are too one dimensional and can never break free of their record company shackles, they would be wise to listen to The Mynabirds' deubt 'What We Lose in the Flood...'.
Lead singer Laura Burhenn was previously one half of the indie duo Georgie James. With her new set-up she's brought a new sound and practically a new voice. 'What We Lose in the Fire' banishes her previous indie roots and sets up camp smack bang in the middle of the country/soul camp.

The Mynabirds - Numbers Don't Lie

Since Laura Burnhenn's old band Georgie James broke up in 2008, she's concentrated on going it alone and developing her songwriting skills. Having written a full album worth of material by spring 2009 she later teamed up with Richard Swift after a brief meeting at SxSW. Together the pair fine-tuned Laura's motown tinged songs and created her debut album What We Lose In The Fire We Gain In The Flood.
