The Notorious B.I.G's murder was the subject of an Fbi investigation on both coasts of the U.S. with agents looking to determine whether Los Angeles police were involved in the rapper's death. Notorious B.I.G was gunned down after leaving a music event on Wilshire Boulevard in 1997, reports the Press Association.
According to newly released records, the two year enquiry into B.I.G's death ended in early 2005 after federal prosecutors decided that there wasn't enough evidence to pursue a case against any officers implicated in the rapper's murder. The decision was finally made after Fbi agents in Los Angeles, San Diego and New York attempted to track down potential suspects and witnesses who might have been able to shed light on the unsolved killing. Informants told the Fbi that the killing of B.I.G may have been aided by corrupt police officers who wanted the singer dead. The files include several mentions of sources who refused to talk to L.A. investigators because of suspicions of corruption.
Nobody has ever been arrested for the killings of Notorious B.I.G or Tupac Shakur, who was gunned down in Las Vegas just months before. The one time friends became enemies in the 1990's during the East Coast, West Coast rivalry.
