Review of No Mundane Options Album by The Paddingtons

Review of The Paddington's album No Mundane Options.

The Paddingtons No Mundane Options Album

Was it really 2005 when The Paddingtons released 'First Comes First'? Surely not. One of the bands that probably produced one of the albums of 2005 at yet somehow were overlooked. This bands debut album was certainly a gem that got missed and three years later they return with the difficult 'second album' 'No Mundane Options'.

It's nice to see that The Paddingtons have not fallen off the map because lets face it at this moment in time there isn't anything out there that offers what The Paddingtons offer. What is that you ask? That pure raw punk sound, that in the shape of their debut album 'First Comes First' The Paddingtons actually blew a lot of people away with this sound, but for some reason this was at the time when people were not that keen on something that is different.

The second coming is here and lets hope that The Paddingtons can kill two birds with one stone, in coming over the hurdle of the second album and bring Punk back to the for front of music! The Paddingtons kick off with a real punk tune and ironically it is called 'Punk RIP'. This is followed up with 'What's The Point In Anything New' which really sounds like a Pigeon Detectives song only heavier.

Tom Atkin's shows that over the last three years he still has it vocally and kick ass all the way through the album. This is showcased best with the album titled track 'No Mundane Option' he seems to give it his all and the track itself just seems so intense.

Although this album doesn't have the stand out songs like the debut album such as '50 to a pound' and 'Sorry' it still has that edge above other album. Eleven tracks of pure noise to come from this band from Hull. Let's hope The Paddingtons can make the same impression as their local football club.

The Paddingtons still hone that Punk feel, maybe they have gone slightly mainstream but that raw sound is still there. What else can they do really because they should have got so much more from the debut album. It would be nice to think that The Paddingtons will get what they deserve, but when you listen to what is about at the moment it seems that we are just going to get disappointed.
