The 1975 movie's original producers, Lou Adler and Kenny Ortega, have teamed up with bosses at Fox to develop a new TV movie version of the spoof horror musical 40 years after its debut.

High School Musical director Ortega has also signed on to direct and choreograph the new project, according to Us Weekly.

The 1975 version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show starred Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Tim Curry and Meat Loaf.

The film has been a cult favourite ever since, and thanks to its frequent midnight movie screenings, it remains the longest-theatrically distributed film in history.
