The Stone Roses have officially got the ball rolling with their upcoming new material having just released their second single 'Beautiful Thing', a month after their first release in 21 years, 'All For One'. The band are planning to release it as a 7" vinyl this summer.

'Beautiful Thing' has definitely got more of a funky psychedelic edge to it than the rockier 'All For One', but The Stone Roses are still very much the Madchester band we remember from the 90s. Released yesterday (June 9th 2016), the band had teased the release of the track during their secret Halifax show at the Victoria Theatre on Tuesday (June 7th).

'Met Reni tonight in Halifax, had a good chat with him and asked him about new music, he 100% confirmed that they've recorded more music than 'All For One' and said that it 'sounds beautiful'', a fan reported in an online forum, a hint which has now become obvious.

The Stone Roses released their comeback single 'All For One' on May 13th, announcing that they were planning a follow-up to their 1994's sophomore album 'Second Coming'; a record that was significantly less well-received than their self-titled debut five years earlier, which is still known as one of the most pioneering albums of modern music.

It's probably one of the biggest reunions that has come about recently, and that includes the likes of Guns N' Roses, Misfits and ABBA. Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni haven't always been the best of friends and their initial tenure was remarkably short-lived, but they had put aside their differences by 2011 and went on to play a number of shows together including Coachella in 2013 and collaborating with Shane Meadows on their documentary project 'The Stone Roses: Made of Stone'.

'Beautiful Thing' is released as a 7" vinyl on July 1st 2016.
