The Temper Trap (Formed 2005)
The Temper Trap is an Australian band consisting of the members Dougy Mandagi (vocals), Jonathon Aherne (bass guitar), Toby Dundas (drums) and Joseph Greer (keyboards and guitar).
They are best known for their single "Sweet Desposition".
Formation: Mandagi was a busker in Melbourne, when he met Aherne.
6 years later, Mandagi met Dundas, while working in a clothes store together.
In 2005, the three decided to form a band.
Dundas recommended his school friend Sillitto for the lead guitar.
In 2006, they signed to Liberation Music.
Music Career: In November 2006, they released their debut extended play, "The Temper Trap".
After finishing an Australian tour, they performed at V Festival in Melbourne, Sydney, and Gold Coast in 2007.
After performing in the UK in 2008, the band attracted the attention of a local music industry in London.
They signed to Infectious Records in 2009.
They signed to Glassnote Records in May for US releases.
Their album, "Conditions" was released in June 2009.
Its lead single, "Sweet Disposition",was released in August 2008 in Australia.
It peaked at number 10 on the UK, Belgian and Irish Charts.
They performed at the Reading & Leeds Festival in August.
They performed on a balcony over London's Camden Lock to promote their single, "Science of Fear".
They cancelled their sold out tour in Germany in order to perform at the ARIA Awards in which they received nominations for 'Album of the Year', 'Breakthrough Album of the Year' and 'Best Rock Album' for Conditions, and 'Single of the Year' for "Sweet Disposition".
They toured the UK in 2010, and performed at many festivals such as Glastonbury, V Festival, Oxegen, and more.
In 2010, Mandagi and Sillitto received awards for writing 'Sweet Disposition' at the APRA Awards, for 'Song Of The Year'.
They won two awards for 'Best Group' and 'Most Popular Single' at the 2010 ARIA Awards.
They were nominated for the BRIT Award in 2011.
They performed a few shows around North America in 2012.
They also went on tour in 2012 around the UK, North America, and Australia.
They released their self-titled second album on the 18th of May 2012.
They won the best rock album award for their second album and the best group award at the ARIA Awards in 2012.
