Earlier this year, 'The Walking Dead' creator Robert Kirkman announced that a character from either the original television series or its sister show, 'Fear The Walking Dead' would be crossing over to the other series in an undisclosed capacity. Though the rumours had in the past come thick and fast surrounding a crossover, the idea was always shut down by show bosses, so it came as somewhat of a surprise when Kirkman revealed that a crossover would indeed be going ahead.

Exactly which character and from which show will be making the jump remains to be seen, but the reveal is something that's now right around the corner. In fact, AMC announced that the unveiling would be taking place on this week's edition of 'Talking Dead' on their Twitter account, in a message you can see below:

Exactly how the character crossing over will factor into the show's storyline remains to be seen. Both 'TWD' and 'Fear' have hugely differing timelines, so for this to really work out as something that's solid and concrete rather than just a ticking off of a box for showrunners, there's going to have to be some brilliant writing in place.

One of the most popular fan theories suggests that Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) will be the character in question, making his return to the 'Walking Dead' universe following his death in the seventh season of 'TWD'. There are also suspicions surrounding two of 'Fear's leading characters, Alicia and Madison.

Could Michael Cudlitz be bringing Abraham back to the 'Walking Dead' universe?Could Michael Cudlitz be bringing Abraham back to the 'Walking Dead' universe?Could Michael Cudlitz be bringing Abraham back to the 'Walking Dead' universe?

Writers will be hoping the reveal of the crossover character brings new life to a franchise that is still wildly successful, but one that is suffering from increasingly falling ratings that haven't been this low since the original series' second season. Whether or not they get that remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure; there's a lot of buzz surrounding this Sunday.
