x factor contestant Christopher Maloney took to Twitter last night (December 9th 2012) to whinge about his treatment on the show after being turned away to take part in a group performance with the other contestants for the finals.

He has been the subject of much controversy over the course of the series having been the victim of much internet trolling and death threats. However, his negative press may not have been without reason having apparently fulfilled Louis Walsh's prophecy that he would turn into a 'diva.' He was voted out on Saturday leaving Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur to fight it out between them on the Sunday. Yesterday was also the final performance on the show for the previous contestants who all did a group rendition of Christmas classics 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday,' 'Last Christmas' and 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'. However, Maloney was noticeably missing from the line-up having been turned away after showing up late smelling strongly of alcohol.

He'd originally been up for the performance, but when he discovered that he had only been given one line to sing, he launched a barrage of abuse at producers and his fellow contestants, namely Carolynne Poole, and refused to take part. He later changed his mind and twice tried to persuade producers to let him on stage with the others. 'He showed up wanting to go on stage but they had to turn him away as they were already on stage and he missed the dress rehearsal', a source told The Sun about his second attempt. The fact that he was an hour late and stank of booze was the reason he was refused the first time.

Seeing Twitter as a refuge, he wrote a series of bitter posts. '@TheXFactor @xfactorpress @GBarlowOfficial can't believe all the bull yet again! this is a witch hunt for defo. the show is over xx', was one of them, soon to be followed by: 'yes I am being bullied! big time. there u go xx witch hunt xx' and later: '@CarolynnePoole you'll do anything to get a headline! disgraceful! week one! bitter.'
