The XX love Los Angeles and they sure prove it with the sun-soaked new party video for their single 'I Dare You'. They describe it as a 'love letter' to the Californian city and it's featured on their number one third album 'I See You', which they released back in January through the Young Turks label.
Directed by Alasdair McLellan (who also directed their videos 'On Hold' and 'Say Something Loving'), in collaboration with fashion designer Raf Simons who is the Chief Creative Officer for Calvin Klein, the video stars the likes of 'Stranger Things' actress Millie Bobby Brown, Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson, 'Moonlight' star Ashton Sanders, Lulu and Ernesto Cervantes - as well as The xx themselves.
As well as their three singles, the band; who are Jamie Smith, Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim; have hit the charts with eight other songs from 'I See You' that have not been released as singles, while 'On Hold' currently seems to be the favourite having peaked at number one on the UK Indie chart.
Despite having an affinity with the city of Los Angeles, the band are actually from London and are currently performing around Europe doing the summer festival rounds. They are set to appear at Lollapalooza (in Chicago and Berlin), Way Out West (Gothenburg, Sweden), Pukklepop (Hasselt, Belgium), Rock En Seine (St. Cloud, France) and Bestival (Dorset) among others before returning to the nation that stole their hearts with appearances at Austin City Limits Festival and Ill Points Festival in Miami.
Speaking about the video the band said that 'I Dare You' is "Our love letter to Los Angeles, a city close to our hearts, where we wrote and recorded parts of our album 'I See You'. This is the third video, our friend, the wonderful Alasdair McLellan has directed for us. He collaborated with a hero of ours, Raf Simons on the creative concept and direction. It was amazing to work with both of them and such a pleasure to meet and work with Millie, Paris, Ashton, Lulu and Ernesto! Thank you to Calvin Klein and everyone involved. We hope you enjoy watching! xx The xx"
