Our shocked laughs had all eventually been turned down to a gentle titter over three years of Ricky Gervais' Golden Globes, and the British comic and some-would-say actor has finally been given the year off from heckling his own audience for the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. In his place, Sky News are reporting that the role is to be split between co-hosts, with two of the funniest comic actresses on the planet at the moment taking over the reins.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been announced as the hosts for the 2013 event by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Fey has been winning over fans sine 2006 for her role on the hugely successful comedy '30 Rock', whilst Poehler has come into real acclaim as part of the cast on 'Parks and Recreation'. The Globes is traditionally one of the biggest awards shows of the spring heading into the Oscars, with many of its winners going on to find success at the Academy. As such, hosting is sure to give them a further profile boost even beyond their current popularity.

When the Globes asked Gervais to host in 2010, it marked the first time the event had had a compere since 1995. Given his outrageous success in the role though, it looks like it'll be a position around for a while to come.
