Tina Turner, a true old school diva has finally surrendered her single lady status and married her boyfriend of decades, Erwin Bach. The singer, 73, had the private ceremony in Switzerland. The diva married the German producer in a civil ceremony and the couple are planning to have a Buddhist celebration at their home on the banks of Lake Zurich on Sunday, according to Reuters.

What's love got to do with it?

Turner and Bach have been together for 27 years – more than can be said for most celebrity couples – and they have lived together in Zurich, Switzerland, for 15 of them. It appears that the icon of rock, R&B, soul – pick a genre you like – has finally found happiness in her second marriage. Her first husband was the infamous Ike Turner, whom Tina married in 1962 and divorced fourteen years later. A decade after the fact, she revealed in her memoir I, Tina that Ike had been physically abusive.

Quite a lot, apparently.

The marriage news comes as a bit of a surprise to those, who have paid attention to the singer’s relationship through the years. In 2000, both Turner and Bach denied any marriage plans and explained that they were content just being together and moving at their own pace.

"We are married – we just haven't walked down the aisle, and until there's a need to, we probably won't," Turner said at the time for PEOPLE magazine.

"We don't need a marriage to be together," Bach added. "Some people need that security thing, but I think if you're internally happy with your partner, you don't need symbols."

Still, even if they have changed their minds, the couple seems like one of the most stable celebrity romances in a long while. We here at Contactmusic would like to wish all the best to the newlyweds!
