"The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence,” the announcement reads.

Daley came out in 2013, when he posted a video on YouTube. He revealed he had been romantically involved with a man for some time but he did not name Black. Soon after, Daley was first linked to Milk screenwriter and Oscar winner Black.

“In spring this year, my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great. That someone is a guy,” Daley said in his video.

Daley’s mother, Debra, spoke to a local paper in Plymouth after the news of her son’s engagement broke and revealed that the couple are planning on waiting to set a date until after the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

"The whole family is extremely excited and looking forward to the big day. They are going to wait until after the Olympic Games in Rio before they decide on the date of the wedding and where they want to marry," Debra told the paper.

Daley and Black are not the only celebrities in recent years to announce their engagement in the same very traditional way. Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s engagement to Sophie Hunter was announced in the Forthcoming Weddings section of The Times in November 2014.
