Actor Tom Hanks Has Joined The Advisory Board For The Eisenhower Memorial Commission.
The Captain Phillips star will work with several U.S. senators to help develop a plan to resurrect a memorial to late U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower in Washington, D.C.
The project has been in the works for several years but the committee still lacks the $142 million (GBP88.7 million) to fund its development.
A statement from the actor reads: "My role in that effort was meant to honor the sacrifices of Ike's troops and all those who served in that global conflict. I am pleased to join the effort to remember their leader who went on to become one of our most prescient and wise of presidents."
