In one of the biggest military disasters in British history, 400,000 soldiers found themselves stranded on the beaches of Dunkirk in France in 1940 in the midst of World War II. Their journey was about releasing the allied France from the grip of the Germans, but when they find themselves surrounded by enemy forces, with nowhere left to hide their options become limited. Determined not to surrender to the Nazis, an incredible emergency evacuation begins as bomb after bomb is dropped on the fleeing men. The Royal Air Force and British Navy vessels rush to the aid of their trapped troops, as well as boats from brave civilians, and together they manage to save over 300,000 men from the terrifying attack in Operation Dynamo.

He also appeared to negate rumours that he was to make a cameo in 'Star Wars: Episode VIII'.

Seriously? These guys have never been named Sexiest Man Alive?
So Dwayne Johnson was named People's Sexiest Man Alive this year; a decision that has been the source of both praise and confusion. Praise because he's an excellent role model with enormous muscles and because he's mixed race, and confusion because all the obvious choices haven't been exhausted yet.
Here are ten more Hollywood heartthrobs who deserve to be named 'Sexiest Man Alive' sooner rather than later.
Leonardo Dicaprio at the 2016 Oscars
But neither are Tom Hardy Mark Rylance, James D'Arcy, Kenneth Branagh and Cillian Murphy.
On Friday the first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming WWII epic Dunkirk dropped, showing us our first glimpses of the Dark Knight director’s first film since 2014’s Interstellar. But for some, Dunkirk is about something else entirely, because the film features the acting debut of One Direction’s Harry Styles.
Harry Styles filming Dunkirk
As usual when anything vaguely One Direction-y happens, their army of fans were out in force on social media and on Friday they weren’t happy. After being teased with photos of Harry and his new short hair filming scenes from the movie, the heartthrob was nowhere to be found in the just under a minute long trailer.

'Dunkirk' is slated for a July 21st, 2017 release, and features an impressive and growing cast list.
Esteemed filmmaker Christopher Nolan has confirmed more additions to the cast list for his upcoming epic Dunkirk, adding ‘Peaky Blinders’ stars Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy as well as One Direction’s Harry Styles to the project.
Nolan has already begun filming the World War II action thriller in the village of Dunkirk in France, the site of the massive military evacuation that signalled the end of Britain’s initial attempt to repel Nazi Germany in France. Filming will also take place in Holland and Los Angeles.
The three actors join Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Fionn Whitehead. The ensemble cast also includes Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden and Barry Keoghan.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies, DiCaprio said, "I can name 30 or 40 sequences that were some of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do. Whether it’s going in and out of frozen rivers, or sleeping in animal carcasses, or what I ate on set. (I was) enduring freezing cold and possible hypothermia constantly.”
Recent reports had suggested that Craig has reversed his position on playing 007, signing up for two more films.
With the release of the highly-anticipated Spectre now imminent, Daniel Craig seems to have changed his tune about the prospects of continuing to be James Bond after recently landing himself in hot water after saying rather “slash his wrists” than play 007 again.
That is to say, he now says he “doesn’t really care” about who will take over as the British spy when he eventually finishes. In the last fortnight, rumours have maintained that Craig has reversed his position and signed up for two more Bond films.
However, when interviewed by The Sun, the 47 year old actor refused to be drawn on what decision he had made. “I have the right to change my mind any time I want to, and sometimes I say things like I did two days after finishing shooting for eight months. I said what was on my mind. That’s the way I’ve always spoken,” he said matter-of-factly.

The ‘Homeland’ star is emerging as the favourite to take over from Daniel Craig.
‘Homeland’ actor Damian Lewis looks set to be the one to take over the role of James Bond when Daniel Craig steps down as 007. According to the Sunday Mirror, Lewis has been given ‘an unofficial nod’ that he is producer's first choice, if Craig decides Spectre will be his last Bond outing.
Damian Lewis could be your new James Bond.
“If Daniel Craig leaves, it’s Damian Lewis who will be crowned the new Bond,” a ‘well placed source’ told the newspaper. “He is seen as an all-round international star who is perfect for the role. As he ages, he looks increasingly suave and sophisticated.”

Brosnan, who played Bond between 1994 and 2005, believes that Idris Elba probably won't be the next 007 actor and that makers will opt for a white male.
Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan reckons that the next star to play 007 will be a white male. For months now, the rumour has been that ‘Luther’ actor Idris Elba would be the next actor cast as the suave British spy, but Brosnan doesn’t believe that the producers will be making that move yet.
“Anything is possible for sure, but I think he'll be male and he'll be white,” he told The Press Association in an interview on Wednesday (September 23rd). However, the 62 year old Irish star did add that “there's wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there's no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond.”

The actor had been asked about his sexuality during a press conference at the Toronto International Film Festival last week.
Earlier this week Legend actor Tom Hardy hit the headlines when he cut off a reporter asking about his sexuality during a Toronto International Film Festival press conference. The reporter, from LGBT news outlet Daily Xtra, had tried to ask Hardy about his sexuality, but was quickly shot down by the actor in a clip which soon went viral.
Tom Hardy plays both Kray twins in Legend.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Hardy has now explained why he was annoyed at the reporter's questions, calling the exchange ‘humiliating’. "That really, really annoyed me. It was just the inelegance of being asked in a room full of people,” Hardy said.

It was one of the actor's most challenging roles yet - and that's saying something.
It's a filmmaking technique notoriously difficult to pull off, but Tom Hardy has nothing but fond recollections from facing the gruelling process of playing both the Kray twins in Brian Helgeland's explorative crime biopic 'Legend', even though he hadn't planned on landing both leads at the start.
Tom Hardy stars as Ronnie Kray and Reggie Kray in 'Legend'
Hardy admits that he only had eyes for the openly bisexual Ronnie Kray when he first read the script, confessing that he felt there was a lot more 'freedom' to playing that role. 'In hindsight, I had to be a bit more careful with Ron because there was a way of lambasting or being cartoonish to an extent where you miss the point of the clown effort', he says. 'It's not to joke about things but to create a certain level of humour whereby people laugh along and then don't realise that what they're laughing at is not something that's funny at all, it's incredibly serious.'
'Legend' star Tom Hardy opens up about the challenges and benefits of playing both of the Kray twins in his new crime biopic 'Legend', directed by Brian Helgeland. He admits that he was initially only interest in playing Ronnie Kray, while Brian wanted him to play Reggie, and so that's where the compromise arose.

He was asked a slightly awkward question by a reporter at the Toronto International Film Festival during a press conference about his new film 'Legend'.
Legend actor Tom Hardy delivered an amusing put-down to a reporter who asked him a question about his sexuality during a press conference at Toronto International Film Festival.
The 37 year old English actor was fielding questions about his new movie, in which he plays the roles of both Ronnie and Reggie Kray, the East London gangsters who frequently made headlines in the ‘60s, when a reporter from LGBT site Daily Xtra asked him the following question.
“In the film, your character Ronnie is very open about his sexuality, but given interviews you’ve done in the past, your own sexuality seems a bit more ambiguous. Do you find it hard for celebrities to talk to media about their sexuality?”
The actor credits his stunt double with a lot of the work on 'Legend'.
The Kray twins are part of London lore, iconic gangsters who ran the city in the swinging 1960s. They've been portrayed on-screen before (by the Kemp brothers in the 1990 drama The Krays), and Oscar-winning writer turned director Brian Helgeland opted to cast Tom Hardy in both roles for his new film Legend.
Tom Hardy is double trouble in crime drama 'Legend'
Word has it that Helgeland wanted Hardy to play Reggie in the film, but when he read the script Hardy was drawn to the more colourful Ronnie. "There was a moment when I could have come away just playing Reggie," Hardy says of his first meeting with Helgeland. "We could have gone and found a superlative character actor to play Ronnie, and that would have been the best of everything. But I was like, 'Well, I feel Ronnie!' So which actor am I gonna give up Ronnie to if I play Reggie? I can't have that. Because that's all the fun there, and Reggie's so straight." By the end of their meeting, Helgeland said, "I'll give you Ron if you give me Reg."

Written and directed with a rakish swagger, and featuring two full-on performances from Tom Hardy, this true London gangster drama is hugely entertaining, even if it feels undercooked. Aside from that generic title, the film basically has no plot at all, and it strips real-life people of their complexity. It's as if the filmmakers were afraid to challenge the audience in any way. But the edgy mix of comedy and violence is riveting.
The events recounted took place over about two years in the early 1960s, although the film's anecdotal structure makes it feel more like a decade. As it begins, the fearsome young Kray brothers (both played by Tom Hardy) are consolidating their gangland grip on East London and expanding around the city, with their next target being South London boss Charlie Richardson (Paul Bettany). Reggie Kray is the tough-minded businessman, while identical twin Ronnie is a terrifying thug who happens to be openly gay at a time when being so was illegal. As they blatantly manipulate the rule of law, a Scotland Yard inspector (Christopher Ecclestone) is desperately looking for a way to take them down. Meanwhile, Reggie is romancing the 16-year-old Frances (Emily Browning), much to the annoyance of her imperious mother (Tara Fitzgerald).
The tumultuous relationship between Reggie and Frances is the only thing that adds a sense of narrative momentum to the film. Otherwise, it's a series of set-pieces that take a darkly humorous approach to family clashes and criminal violence. Writer-director Brian Helgeland infuses even the grisliest brutality with an amusing smirk, which makes the movie much more engaging than expected. And Hardy storms through the film with real charisma in both roles, as the steely, magnetic Reggie and the more unstable, fearsome Ronnie. Both performances are scene-stealing, nicely conveying how these men managed to hold the entire city in their grip, even though they were only in their early 30s at the time.

Tom Hardy has “no shame” about his old Myspace pictures.
We all have pictures from our past we’d rather nobody see – ever - whether it was an outfit which didn’t quite work or a particularly bad haircut. Some of The Dark Knight actor Tom Hardy’s photographs, from the days when Myspace was the social media of choice, surfaced earlier this summer and caused quite a stir. Fortunately, Hardy isn’t remotely embarrassed about them.

Speaking to Sky News, the 37 year old English actor didn’t say whether or not he’d actually been approached for the part. However, when asked by the interviewer, the high-profile star replied: “I think anybody would consider doing Bond, wouldn't they?”

Could this be the film that provides the 40-year-old actor with that elusive Oscar?
Leonardo Dicaprio has rarely put a foot wrong throughout his illustrious movie career. Even those who sit in the dislike camp of Titanic are regularly outdone by the numbers who strongly sit on the like side. Unfortunately, there is still one thing missing from Leo’s artistic collection: an Oscar. Could The Revenant be the film to right that wrong?
This trailer certainly suggests it has as good a chance as any.

The ‘Legend’ actor was put through his paces by the 45 Commando Royal Marines in Arbroath this past week.
He’ll soon be doing double duty on the big screen as both Kray twins in thriller Legend, but Hollywood hunk Tom Hardy has revealed that he would have joined the Royal Marines had acting not worked out for him. The 37 year old made the revelation while training with troops in Scotland this past week at RM Condor in Arbroath.
Tom Hardy would have made a good marine if his acting career didn't work out.
Hardy partook in a full training session beside the 45 Commando Royal Marines, after he was invited to become an honorary member of the unit as he prepares for his next film role. Major Giles Duncan, the second-in-command of 45 Commando, said, “Tom was hugely impressed by our Royal Marines and told me he was humbled by what the lads did.”
Odds have been slashed on the ‘Homeland’ star becoming the first red-headed 007.
‘Homeland’ star Damian Lewis has emerged as one of the frontrunners to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, after a string of bets caused bookies to slash their odds on the actor. Current Bond Daniel Craig is widely believed to be stepping down as 007 later this year following the release of his fourth film in the franchise, Spectre.
Can you picture Damian Lewis as 007?
Bookie William Hill is now offering 6/4 odds on Lewis becoming the next Bond, having previously put him at 25/1. The move comes after a flurry of £200 bets were recently placed on the ‘Homeland’ actor.

'London Road' is based on the Ipswich murders in 2006-2008.

Tom Hardy has proved his acting talent time and time again, but filming 'Mad Max: Fury Road' was a special challenge for him. Not just because of the desert, but because of the large shoes of Mel Gibson that he had to fill.
Tom Hardy has made a name for himself with films like 'Inception', 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'Warrior' and 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy', but nothing quite prepared him for the full-on challenge of taking over as Mad Max.
Tom Hardy took over from Mel Gibson in the Mad Max role
"When I got over the initial jubilation and excitement of being offered the role, I suddenly realised that Mad Max is synonymous with Mel Gibson," Hardy says. "That was a little bit daunting, and possibly people were going to dislike the change. So I thought the right thing to do was go and meet Mel Gibson, because he's part of the Mad Max family. It's like I'm the new wife who has to go and meet the old wife."

Tom Hardy's 'Mad Max: Fury Road' clocks decent first-day numbers, but the 'Pitch Perfect' girls are the ones in front.
The latest Mad Max film may well be one of the best-reviewed action thrillers of all time, with a huge Metascore of 89 - well above the average for the genre - but it seems Max isn't quite tough enough to beat the Barden Bellas to the number-one spot.
Anna Kendrick could be topping the charts this weekend
According to Deadline, first-day ticket estimates at the US box office put Fury Road at number two with $16.8m, while Pitch Perfect 2 is well ahead with $27.8m for Friday - that's almost double what its predecessor made over the full three-day period during its first weekend of nationwide release back in 2012.

Looks like George Miller isn't done with Mad Max yet...
It's been 30 years since George Miller completed his trilogy of movies starring Mel Gibson: Mad Max (1979), The Road Warrior (1981) and Beyond Thunderdome (1985). In the intervening years he's kept busy with the Babe and Happy Feet franchises. But now he's back with Mad Max: Fury Road, which he refuses to call either a sequel or a reboot. He's just freshening the franchise, like the James Bond movies do every few years.
Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road
And he said this week that he has "other stories and other scripts" ready to go if Fury Road is a box office success. "It really depends on whether everyone, particularly me, has an appetite to go back into the wasteland," he says of the post-apocalyptic desert setting. "It's like asking a woman who's just given birth, 'You wanna try it again?'"
