Tom Hardy seems to be enjoying the small screen at the moment following his 'Peaky Blinders' stint, because now he stars in another TV show entitled 'Taboo'. It's a period drama which he co-created with his father Chips Hardy and it's coming to you next year.

'Taboo' marks Tom's first collaboration with his father (real name Edward Hardy) who is a novellist and comedy writer. It has been co-written by the Oscar nominated Steven Knight; the man behind 'Peaky Blinders' and Robert Zemeckis' new World War II drama 'Allied' starring Brad Pitt; plus, Ridley Scott serves as an executive producer. Meanwhile, direction for the 8-part series has been split evenly between Anders Engström ('Thicker Than Water') and Kristoffer Nyholm ('The Enfield Haunting').

Set in the early 1800s, the series follows a character named James Keziah Delaney (Hardy) who returns home to London after a long trip to Africa in a bid to inherit his father's shipping empire and to avenge his death. He's a very different man to the one who left the country all those years ago; he's unstable and dangerous, and he's ready to face the enemies that lurk around every corner waiting to snatch his new life from him, be they the royal family or the East India Company.

The film also stars Leo Bill ('Alice Through the Looking Glass'), Oona Chaplin ('The Crimson Field'), Michael Kelly ('House of Cards'), Jonathan Pryce ('Pirates of the Caribbean') and spoken word poet Scroobius Pip in his second acting venture after 2015's 'The Bastard Executioner'.

'Taboo' will air on FX in the US on January 10th 2017 and will arrive in the UK on BBC One.
