The Magnum, P.I. star hit headlines earlier this month (Jul15) after executives at the Calleguas Municipal Water District accused Selleck and his wife Jillie of stealing water from a hydrant in Thousand Oaks, California for use on his ranch and avocado farm.

A complaint filed against the actor alleged one of his employees was caught illegally transporting water across district boundaries on at least 12 occasions over the past two years and Calleguas bosses demanded payment for the water taken and the private investigator they hired to investigate the crime.

Attorneys for Selleck reached a tentative agreement with water chiefs last week (09Jul15), and the $21,685.55 (£13,553.47) settlement was approved by water district board members at a meeting on Wednesday (15Jul15).

After the ruling, Selleck's attorney, Marty Singer, revealed the star was "pleased" with the decision.

A statement released by Singer reads: "Mr. Selleck did not receive any notifications prior to last week stating that he was acting outside of regulations decreed by the county.

"Mr. Selleck previously paid for all the water that he utilized, which the Calleguas Municipal Water District acknowledged had not been stolen."
