The funnyman was involved in a horrific car crash almost a year ago (Jun14), when his limousine collided with a truck in New Jersey, killing his friend James 'Jimmy MACk' MCNair and leaving Morgan with serious injuries, including head trauma and a broken leg and ribs.

He has yet to regain his full health, and had to miss out on taking part in the Saturday Night Live U.S. TV special, which featured a host of fellow alumni, including former show regular Fey, who gave Morgan a heartfelt shout out, saying, "I wish my friend Tracy Morgan was here tonight and I know that he was hoping that he would be well enough to be here, too."

She and Baldwin then led a round of applause in the studio for Morgan, but the the tribute proved to be too overwhelming for the recovering comedian and he struggled to watch the sketch show he made his name on in the late 1990s.

During an emotional new interview which aired on U.S. breakfast show Today on Tuesday (02Jun15), he says, "The 40th anniversary, we were all together in my house and I wouldn't look at it...

"My publicist called to say, 'Wow, Alec and Tina just gave you a very big, very big tribute' and I just put my head down and started crying. It was a lot for me. It was too much for me at the time, too much."

Morgan, who is still using a cane to help him walk, previously admitted that he is not yet well enough to return to work, but he reveals he worries about how he will make fans laugh again when he eventually bounces back.

He says, "I love comedy and I wonder how I'm gonna be funny again. I'mma get to it. The fans let me know, 'We can't wait for you to come back...' I can't wait to make them laugh again."

His fiancee, Megan Wollover, adds, "He's not 100 per cent but he's came a long way pretty fast (sic). It was a rough beginning, it didn't look so great in the beginning, but he's coming around and he's gonna be back."
