Tracy Morgan will never get over the death of his friend James McNair.

The '30 Rock' star was seriously injured in a road accident last June when a Walmart truck collided with his limo bus, and though he is on the road to recovery, the 48-year-old star admits he will be mourning his friend, who passed away in the crash, forever.

Tracy - who recently reached an ''amicable settlement'' with the retailer - said: ''Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal...

''The case is settled but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac. He was a close friend of mine, a comrade in comedy. He was a loving man and he was a warm man.

''He was a good man. It just hurt me to see that he's gone. That's it.''

Tracy - who admits he still has ''good days and bad days'' after suffering a traumatic brain injury, broken femur, broken nose and broken ribs in the crash - learned his friend had died two weeks after the accident, when he woke from a coma, and ''paid his respects'' by watching James' funeral online.

In his first TV interview since the crash, he told 'Today' host Matt Lauer: ''My lady told me, 'We put Jimmy to rest.' I just...I just came out of a coma, so. And then I got home...I would just watch the accident on YouTube, and one day, I came across his funeral on YouTube. And I just...I lost it for about a week.

''[Why did I watch it?] I had to pay my respects, and that was my way.''

Though he isn't back to full health yet, Tracy - who has three sons with ex-wife Sabina and daughter Maven, 22 months, with fiance Megan Wollover - is looking forward to returning to work.

He said: ''I love comedy. I love comedy. I will never stop loving her. I love comedy and I can't wait to get back to her, but right now, my goal is just to heal and get better. Because I'm not 100 percent yet. I'm not. And when I'm there, you'll know.

''I'll get back to making you laugh. I promise you.''
