A stuntwoman left brain damaged and partially paralysed following an accident on the set of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has reached an $18.5 million (Gbp11.5 million) settlement with the film's producers.
Gabriela Cedillo filed a lawsuit against bosses at Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Studios after a cable holding a car on the set of the franchise's third film snapped and sliced open her skull in September, 2010.
The 26-year-old stuntwoman was airlifted to an Indiana hospital for emergency surgery and film chiefs promised to cover all Cedillo's medical costs, but the accident has left them more than $18 million out of pocket after they agreed to settle the case, according to Tmz.com.
The on-set accident prompted an investigation by the Indiana Occupation Safety and Health Administration (Iosha) to determine whether director Michael Bay's set was in violation of any safety codes. Officials concluded producers were not to blame for the "unfortunate and unforeseeable accident."
