Trent Reznor won the Academy Award for Best Original Score at The Oscars last night (27.02.11).

The Nine Inch Nails star composed the soundtrack to Facebook movie 'The Social Network' alongside long-time collaborator Atticus Ross, and he admits he was "very proud" of his work.

Accepting his award, he said: "Wow. Is this really happening? When we finished, we were very proud of our work and happy to just be involved in this film, and to be standing up here in this company is humbling and flattering beyond words."

The score for the David Fincher-directed film has already picked up a number of awards this year from bodies including the Golden Globes, the Los Angeles Film Critics Society and the Boston Society of Film Critics.

Speaking after accepting his gold statuette, the 45-year-old musician added working on the film was "not a huge leap" from the work he has done with his band.

He said: "A side of my music with Nine Inch Nails was going instrumental so it was not a huge leap or stretch to try this."
