A new teaser trailer for the upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me has been released, on the same day that would have been the late rapper’s 45th birthday.

The tense clip, which was uploaded to the Instagram account of radio show ‘Big Boy’s Neighborhood’ on Wednesday night (June 15th), features the voice Danai Gurira, star of ‘The Walking Dead’ who plays Tupac’s late mother Afeni, who died last month at the age of 69.

“This ain’t just about you. Like all black men, you have a bullseye on your back. They are going to give you the tools that you need to destroy yourself,” the voiceover says. “Above all else, to thine own self be true. Now, let me see your spirit.”

Playing in the background is a downbeat version of ‘Ambitionz Az a Ridah’, as clips of Tupac performing on stage, an FBI raid and a chanting crowd feature in the short clip.

All Eyez On Me has had a troubled inception, with at least three directors attached themselves to the project and then departing over the five years since it was announced, including Antoine Fuqua, Carl Franklin, and John Singleton.

Furthermore, there was an ongoing legal tussle between production company Morgan Creek and Tupac’s mother until rights reverted back to Tupac’s estate late last year. Established music video director Benny Boom took charge of the project, from which point things finally got off the ground.

Filming eventually finished on April 12th this year, with Demetrius Shipp Jr. playing the tragic rap icon who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting Las Vegas in September 1996. All Eyez On Me is scheduled for a release on November 11th.
