The actor/director has purchased a Steinway B concert grand piano played by Cole and other jazz greats including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Mel Torme and Oscar Peterson.

According to the New York Daily News, all proceeds from the sale will go to Generation Hope, a charity founded by Cole's twin daughters, Timolin and Casey, which promotes music education in South Florida public schools.

The cause of promoting arts education for children is one that is close to Perry's heart - in 2012, he paid $100,000 (£62,500) to support rap mogul Russel Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which gives underprivileged kids access to arts programs.
