Inciting riots, homophobia, sexism, all things Tyler The Creator has been accused of in his career so far. On Saturday the 23 year old rapper was arrested on suspicion of inciting a riot in Austin Texas after his performance at the SXSW festival. Another controversy? It’s just another day in the life of this very outspoken rap star.

Tyler, the Creator didn't pull any punches when he broke into the rap world in 2009. His debut mixtape was entitled ‘Bastard’ and got him his fair share of attention as well as positive reviews from critics. He followed it up a year later with ‘Goblin’, his debut album where he seemed to take exception to Bruno Mars and Paramore’s Hayley Williams in some of the album’s lyrics. His feelings on artists aside, the album also drew allegations of homophobia, (apparently anti-gay slurs can be heard 213 times on the record) and led to many to criticise his music’s lyrical content.

One outspoken critic was Sarah Quin of the duo Tegan and Sara, who posted a blog calling the rapper out saying, "While an artist who can barely get a sentence fragment out without using homophobic slurs is celebrated on the cover of every magazine, blog and newspaper, I'm disheartened that any self-respecting human being could stand in support with a message so vile.” Tyler’s response was, well an offensive tweet that made light of the matter and the duo. He has, however, come out and said he is not homophobic, referencing his friendship with fellow Odd Future member Frank Ocean.
