It seems the way Usher handles dealing with Justin Bieber's bad boy antics is by showing him some tough love. The R&B star fully understands his protégé's behaviour hasn't been the best in the past couple of years, and he definitely won't stay silent about it.

Usher has been Bieber's mentor since he was first discovered, aged 13

"I'm not happy with all the choices my friend has made," Usher said to Billboard when talking about Bieber.

The 36 year-old singer has been the Canadian superstar's mentor ever since manager Scooter Braun discovered him on a YouTube video aged 13, and has since offered guidance to Bieber throughout his whole career.

However, as the 'Baby' singer is now 20 years-old, Usher admits the pair look at each other "more man-to-man now."

But during the past couple of years, Bieber's personal life has been heavily publicized due to his antics with the paparazzi, rumoured drug use and several incidents involving the authorities, so Usher is fully prepared to become very strict with him.

"I'll punch him in the f---ing chest when I need to," he said, "and give him a hug and kiss when I need to."

Usher is also adamant he will carry on supporting Bieber as he is going to "try my hardest to give as much positive reinforcement as I can...It's more than just mentoring. I love the kid."

Bieber may have caught wind of Usher's affectionate words, shortly after the interview was published, he tweeted, "@Usher love bro."
