Contrary to friend and former co-star Michael Douglas' bleak diagnosis earlier this week, Kilmer clarified that he isn't suffering from throat cancer.
Val Kilmer has moved to clear up rumours that he is seriously ill with throat cancer, after his friend Michael Douglas told reporters that “things don’t look too good” for the former Top Gun actor.
The 56 year old movie star has denied he’s suffering from cancer in a Facebook post he released late on Tuesday (November 1st), saying that his former co-star Douglas, although he means well, is “misinformed” about the situation and they actually haven’t seen each other in two years.

Douglas, who suffered from oral cancer himself, reportedly told host Jonathan Ross at an event in London the day before that Kilmer is “dealing with exactly what I had” and “that’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately”, adding “my prayers are with him”, according to Variety.
But, contrary to that bleak picture, Kilmer clarified that he had merely seen a doctor to examine a lump in his throat back in 2014.

“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed. The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play Citizen Twain.”
Kilmer, who rose to prominence in Top Gun in 1986, is famous for playing Batman in the ill-fated Batman Forever, but also had great reviews for his role in Heat and his portrayal of The Doors’ lead singer Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors. He starred alongside Douglas in 1996's The Ghost And The Darkness.
“I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever,” he continued in the lengthy post. “I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily. I've made 3 films in the last year, one of which I directed and am presenting as a personal appearance introducing it and then answering questions after. Come see me live and happy and in person in Westwood next week if you think I'm fibbing!!”
