Rockers Vampire Weekend have expressed their admiration for defunct British hip-hop group N-Dubz and compared the band to music legends The Beatles.

Lead singer Ezra Koenig confessed his bizarre obsession with the I Swear hitmakers during an interview with Britain's Esquire magazine when the group was asked whether they have any interest in U.K. pop stars.

Koenig described the band as having an "early Beatles kind of vibe" and singled out N-Dubz rapper Dappy for particular praise, telling the publication, "I saw N-Dubz on Tv last night. They struck me as very self-aware and funny, at least the main guy (Dappy)... They really held their own. They got it. I didn't know what to make of the song they played, but when they were messing around (with the Tv show's host) it was almost like some Monkees or early Beatles kind of vibe."

However, he goes on to concede, "I should probably research them more."
