Vera Wang is an "equal-opportunity shopper".

The designer - best known for her intricate wedding dress creations - loves hitting the shops wherever she is and doesn't mind what outlets they are, and thinks she is helping the economy by doing so.

She said: "I shop wherever I am. I'm an equal-opportunity shopper.

"Leave me in a mall for three days, and you'll never find me again. I'm doing my best to sustain the economy single-handedly."

Vera - who worked as a senior fashion editor for Vogue magazine for sixteen years prior to starting her design career - recently cast Leighton Meester as the face of her new perfume Lovestruck, and she confesses it was her dream to get the 'Gossip Girl' star to sign up.

She told WWD: "For Lovestruck, we wanted an actress. If you can transport somebody from a runway collection, but you can't transport them with perfume, there's a problem.

"I think this is the hardest we've ever worked on an overall fragrance concept."

Vera has previously revealed she asks her daughters - Cecilia, 21 and Josephine, 15 - for advice before she launches any new products.

She said: "I have two test-marketers in my house, living with me. They are very good for me to bounce ideas off of. They make sure they let me know what's good, and what isn't good, and why I am doing this, and I think that's very real."
