World renowned hair stylist and fashion icon Vidal Sassoon has reportedly died of natural causes at his home on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles aged 84. The famed stylist revolutionized women's hairstyling in the sixties with his "bob" and wash and wear looks.
Sassoon was born in London in 1928 to humble origins, after opening his first salon in 1854 he went on to create a multi-million dollar business and is widely regarded as the most famous hair stylist of his generation. His clients have included Rita Hayworth, Mia Farrow and probably most famously fashion designer Mary Quant who described Vidal as "the Chanel of hair".
Sassoon, married four times and had four children, his eldest daughter Catya died of an overdose in 2002, none of his offspring followed their celebrity father into the hair styling world.
