Almost a month after the release of their hugely successful collaboration 'Don't Play', Anne-Marie, KSI and Digital Farm Animals have dropped a new acoustic version and fresh video. The new take on their song that was originally released on January 15th this year is a radically different version but in many respects a better one.
Anne-Marie's toned down vocal works a treat on the trio's newly imagined 'Don't Play' and Digital Farm Animals enhances that treatment as he plays acoustic guitar. The softer take on the original comes at the song from a wholly different perspective and gives it a new vibrancy and character. The vocal exchanges between KSI and Anne-Marie are exposed even more and the differences in their styles and deliveries make it all the more interesting.
The new video for the acoustic version of their track is shot, just like the original, in and around a boxing ring but their is none of the posturing or aggression that was laid bare on the first video. A pink bobbed Anne-Marie is tender and mellow as she sings with a seated, pink helmeted, guitar strumming Nicholas Gale sat beside her in the ring. Under the spotlights that surround them KSI responds as he raps his verses and dances with Anne-Marie. The playful exchange that both singers seem to be enjoying brings to the song a new quality that was not present on the original.
Anne-Marie was clearly curious as she premiered the video asking fans, "MORNINNNNNNG, thanks for joining the video premier, what do you all think of the acoustic version?" Her fans seemed to adore it, with one saying "It's a Masterpiece, love it more than the original." We couldn't agree more.
